Had my second rallycross the other day, and this time I didn’t come in last place! It was an insanely close finish, though:
Yeah, it was tons of fun! I also bought a windshield banner decal that says “SCCA RallyCross” and looks awesome, and it came with another little rectangular bumper sticker thingy that says the same thing. I think I was supposed to get two of that one, actually, because everyone else who had the banner had one on each side of the car... But it was only $5.00 for the two of them together, so yeah. There’s going to be a regional event next month and I’ll probably buy another set there. Keep the extra banner around just in case something happens to this one, use the extra other sticker for my laptop or something, I dunno.
But anyway, yeah. It was a ton of fun. There was a 190D Turbo running on biodiesel there!
He ended up missing two runs, though, due to mechanical problems, I think. So that sucked, but it was still cool seeing him run!
Also, pay close attention to the top right of the screen when you watch my video. You can see the Impreza tear off half of its bumper on a rut. But if you’re still on the fence about rallycrossing, don’t let that scare you! That was a first for pretty much everyone there, even those who have been going for years. The chance of you damaging your car is really low with the precautions they take at these events. It’s a relatively flat, wide-open field of mostly soft dirt, with a course specifically designed to avoid as many harsh bumps as possible. You’ll never catch air or bottom out unless you push it way too hard, and the worst you should reasonably expect is to shake something loose, like a battery cable.

I was excited to see a diesel Benz with FTD until I got down far enough to find that bimmer who killed everyone.
